I don't use curbside trash pickup but was under the impression haulers have to provide a bin. But I have one of the black compost bins and a black barrel I cut the bottom off and sank in the ground a bit. I just collect food scraps in a large coffee can and empty when full. Pretty good additional soil for the garden every Spring.

One problem is clearing any vents to monitor heaters that may be on a 2nd floor or vents for your plumbing. Vermont's housing stock is very old and with that, there are houses that do not meet today's standards. Also several generations have done diy repairs that aren't up to handling tons of snow. My house is in that category.

F-16 and F-4 before that. Grew up under the F-16, now live under the F-35. Wouldn't suck so much if they didn't rip two sets of 8 overhead back to back.
