Considering how much effort it takes just to go to the bathroom and the fact they're all living in what is basically a small box for months at a time I imagine they put an enormous amount of research into providing a diet that produces as little gas as possible whilst limiting the number of times they have to go take a shit.

I'm sure personal hygiene is also very high on the list, especially since you can't take a shower every day. Even so, I bet the ISS absolutely stinks most of the time.

It's 2009, still within what DankPods has termed the "nugget era". Technology companies were throwing all kinds of junk "e-devices" out into the world to see what would stick. Then smart phones came along and it pretty much ended this era overnight, that's why it failed because it was a single purpose device that didn't even do that well and even the cheapest smart phone or tablet on the market already had a Twitter app.

Your school is most likely using SSL Decryption to intercept either all (bad implementation) or some https sites. The most common reason a school would do this is to enforce keyword blocks and you can also do things like force safe search on Google and block GMail from external non school accounts.

Without the certificate you'll get SSL errors on any page they're monitoring.

My Great-Grandma had a wonderful attitude to her dementia when it first started with plenty of self deprecating humor, it made the really difficult years that followed easier to handle.

Your letter also reminded me of the final birthday card I received from my Grandad. Nanna had always taken care of them, but he was determined to continue that after she passed away. He had no idea what to write, so asked my Mum who just said "write what you think is best!". I received a birthday card "Best wishes, [his first name]". His Valentines day cards to my Nanna were always "Yours, forever [his first name]". She thought it was adorable but always laughed about it. He was a farmer, not a man of words but of deeds. He meant the world to me.

If you have a Mac (or access to one) you can use Apple Configurator and make a profile to disable all but the settings she needs, I'm not sure if you can disable the physical switch though (maybe put some tape over it?

There may be other free utilities that work on PC but I've never researched it.
