I live in Germantown (fairly close to Mt. Airy) and I would definitely not recommend it as far as social activities. Proximity to the park is awesome, I love the neighborhood, but the restaurant/bar scene is very very limited and if I was single and 27 I would probably be bored out of my mind here. You can definitely drive/transit to other, more active places but the walkability of stuff around here is not great, unfortunately.

I'm doing dry January too, mostly because I want to lose some pounds and the easiest way to cut a thousand+ calories a week out of my diet is to stop drinking a few beers on the weekend, plus it's always accompanied by a sandwich and fries and whatnot, which isn't helping. Good luck!

I've been there a few times, they seem pretty chill there, there are definitely a number of V0-V1 boulders and 5.5-ish roped climbs if you're looking to just ease in. Everyone's seemed pretty friendly and it really is a nice gym.

Note that this pushes all games back a day - game 3 tickets are now tomorrow night, game 4 Wednesday, game 5 Thursday.

+1 on that not being a sketchy part of town at all. There's also a parking garage right around the corner at Cira Green that I consistently get $6 parking for via the SpotHero app.

There's a bunch of those on my street in Germantown right now too with the 7am-5pm printed on there instead of handwritten. Kinda weird but they've been doing gas line replacement around here for a while so they're legit.
