Reply to Party Down - Season 3 Premiere Discussion by Prax150
I love the original show but some reveals of where the characters are now broke my heart / pissed me off, cause how perfectly season 2 ended really made you want to imagine a happier fate for them.
This was a pretty funny reunion tho

It was ordered to series but then abruptly shut down after the sudden death of its co-creator.

That show did get a season pickup but was shelved. It's very morbid but I still want to know if that show was really shelved because of the co-creator's death or if there were other reasons. I'm not sure how morale on the set would've been if they were forced to keep shooting so maybe that really is why. Pretty tragic story as the guy was pretty well-liked in the sitcom industry.

Not super old but I think Parker Lewis Can't Lose also didn't have a laugh track right?

Reply to I just noticed when thinking of the popular modern sitcoms vs the popular sitcoms of the early/pre 2000s, many of the older ones used to be more centered around friends just hanging while modern are workplace set. Why do you think this is? by 3kool5you
"Sitcoms about friends hanging out" died in the 2010s because any show like that other than New Girl wasn't able to rake in multiple millions of viewers consistently. Pretty much all the big ones that premiered after New Girl failed. So Hollywood got scared out of making them. They'll come back eventually.
