I remember I read the first series of books during the lunch breaks in my first job after college, so that was... 31 years ago... yikes.

If it's a series I loved (like Game of Thrones or Witcher) I rewatch the whole previous season the week before the next season arrives, for other shows I have to read a synopsis summary somewhere, otherwise I'd be sooooo lost.

To me it's the opposite, knowing actors usually work for the whole season means they have "plot armor", i.e. they won't die until maybe the last episode of the season, so if it seems like something dangerous is going to happen, or if they get shot or something, I know the next scene is probably them in the hospital at worst. I hate plot armor.
