And speaking of discredited techniques, witness IDs are the least reliable method of identifying a suspect unless the suspect confessed to them and it’s marred by the trauma the witness is dealing with from the event. Cops manipulate witnesses all the time to arrive at the conclusion they are aiming for.

I’ve only heard of them because I did IT for a school district around this time and used to delete mp3s from our file servers all the time. It was on the list of bands that I collected the metadata on to help me find stuff they tried to bury.

Heart problems in athletes is more common than a lot of people think, they can usually intervene if they catch it in time, but if you really look into it; it’s not unusual. Athletes tend to push their bodies to the extreme and that can cause heart problems or unearth an undiagnosed condition.

Tort reform was sold to the middle class voter with lies about protecting costs of goods when it was really about keeping bad behavior profitable for the wealthy.

Billy Joel grew up listening to artists like Frankie Valli and inspired the dojo-wop style songs…

People don’t track pricing very well and you could raise prices while saying they locked in; very few people would even notice.

My literature class in high school protested against reading this book because it was boring and we just didn’t connect to it. We watched the movie that was made with Redford instead since this was 20 years before the DiCaprio version. It’s really only as popular as it is because every GI in WW2 was given a copy to read and it’s been jammed down everyone’s throat.

Some restaurants in Utah used to do stuff like that because you couldn’t just have alcohol if you were at a restaurant bar. They’d give you some bread or something like that to get around it. This one place my friends worked at would give you a slice of bread when you sat. It was just a piece of bread…on a plate…nothing else.
