Usually phones have some components that are shared for different connection bearers. Some phones can do both voice calls and internet traffic through 3-4-5G due to additional modulator-demodulator-antenna. Some don't because they have only one mod-demod-antenna and the system prioritizes calls over internet traffic.
This doesn't happen when you are connected via WiFi, there are other components handling the processes there.
