That RSV number is a huge underreport. For one, they simply don't test adults at all, including those who end up in the ER, like my wife this week, and for another they don't bother testing kids unless admitted. Last year it took me something like four months to stop hacking out my lungs, and my kid basically coughed non-stop from July to March.
And the stupid thing is, the test is cheap, easy and 100 percent reliable, can be done at home, and literally no one wants to sell it. Yeah, okay, the treatment for RSV and other "colds" is the same, but boy it'd be nice not to go give it to other family members and know what a ride we're going to be in for.
