For just two bolts can you put it in a vise and use a Dremel or something? Seems like overkill to use a lathe unless it needs to be really precise or something.

The ones right near Porter have already seen some improvements; the segments immediately before and after that should see construction completed by 2026: https://www.cambridgema.gov/Departments/publicworks/cityprojects/2021/massave4massavepartialconstruction

Its looks like legit photo take at just the right time, when the head of the queue hits a stop light, but before every one behind them has come to a stop and bunched up.

I didn't take a new photo, but here is a random one I just happen to have from 2017 at Hampshire and Prospect: https://imgur.com/a/oTkDhSU; that was during the morning rush hour. It is more common for people to bunch up like that at a red light than to form a long queue though, so perhaps that is the source of your misconception. You'd have to take the photo at just the right time before they sort of bunch up to look like it does in this post. It looks like the person in front has stopped with his foot on the ground, but people behind are still coming up to the intersection.

That person in the black jacket had an amazingly nonchalant response to the ceiling collapsing in front of them.

Punjabi Dhaba is probably the best as far as food, but is very much order and the counter street casual style. If you want more of a shutdown restaurant feel, Kebab Factory is also very good.

Yeah, the basement of my current home in Somerville definitely had an illegal apartment in it a some point. There are still remnants of tile from a bathroom.

Not to mention the opportunity cost of letting a downpayment sit there in cash for years while you "wait it out".

Reply to comment by Stronkowski in T unveils new slow zone dashboard providing never-before-seen look at subway condition by austinmartinyes
TransitMatters can figure it out from travel times, which is great because it got the T to actually admit some of the problems. It seems like the additional information TransitMatters can't necessarily figure out is why there is a slow down (track? tunnel? train? signals?), and precisely how many miles have what level of speed restriction. Of course, what would be really great is having some idea when they are going to fix it.

Well, its an improvement over basically lying about them. What would be nice is fixing them. At least this way we will have a good idea of progress. Thanks to TransitMatters for keeping them honest.

I just can't get over the fact that we had funding all lined up and everything to extend to the Red Line all the way to Arlington, then blocked it. And forty years later we are talking about maybe doing an express bus route.

The 77 was only down 8-16 % in ridership (from the analysis), which is less than the bus system overall. It would be nice to have some comparison to one of the other key bus routes with out dedicated lanes, if they could find a good control.

I have definitely seen them on Northbound side in the evening, on motorcycles, lurking among the flex posts. They definitely aren't there every day, but I have seen enforcement often enough that it probably makes some difference.

The full analysis linked from the article does look at car travel times. The TL;DR of it is: Compared to a control street they increased immediately after installation, but have since stabilized and show little difference.

Shouldn't you want to have a more precise idea about how much faster , and what effects it has on other travelers, for future implementation?

> People also have issues with HOAs, noise, etc.
Potentially a problem. My condo just has two units, and so I am most of the HOA. It still means the other owners can veto new projects, but managing something like this is pretty essay.
Noise; nailed down hardwood floors are going to conduct a lot of noise, and there generally isn't a lot of sound proofing in older construction. New construction or recently renovated stuff can be better, but it is difficult to evaluate. You should definitely ask about what sound proofing ha been done.
Shared walls, as opposed to shared floors, are easier to soundproof generally. Mostly because they don't have people stomping on them.
> Any regrets not moving to an inner suburb instead?
Everything has plusses and minuses. But no, not really. I love being able to walk and bicycle with my kids every where more than anything I would gain from a suburb.

I don't get it. From the description, it doesn't sound like the officers had any other reasonable options. Now, officers description may not be accurate, which is why an investigation is taking place. But what is releasing the name going to accomplish, except harassing those officers regardless of any results?
