Planar headphones really suck up a lot of current. Dynamic headphones aren't usually as amplifier picky.

This is not that powerful honestly. So no your amp is not handling the Edition XS all that well. A cheap enough combo would be Atom amp+ with its dac (or a Schiit magni+ with its dac).

To compare, Atom amp+ does 545 mW(9.04VRMS) @ 150Ω or 1 Watt (5.66 VRMS) @ 32Ω

The input is a TRS but you bought a pretty niche looking product really. Can you still cancel it? If not return it.

Better buy this for same price https://www.amazon.com/Douk-Audio-Headphone-Amplifier-Desktop/dp/B08C2MKBGN/

all you need is a 3.5mm to RCA cable which you can find easily. Next step up would be something like a Fiio E10k but it's near double price at $75. And again next up is schiit modi/magni or jds atom/atom dac both around $200, but can also find them used of course.

If the output impedance is the same on all these devices, there isn't a single logical reason as to why you'd hear such differences in bass and treble. It's not like you're switching from an OTL tube amp to a clean solid state one lol, you're comparing apples with apples and they should really taste the same..

Yup. Same for me. I own an old 16-bit Sony TDA-based DAC and it rolls off highest frequency content a bit but other than that.. even an age old DAC sounds just about identical.

I would hope so :)
