Also if it was a perfectly smooth sphere where there is no friction to accelerate the water?
Wouldn’t the water then just sit as a sphere around the spinning earth?

It’s good to see the European energy market at work, but unfortunately Germany also had to increase burning coal to achieve that.

This mostly applies to people living in apartments with central heating (oil or gas) that is often switched off over the summer, say May to October.

Yes, thanks for reminding me of that distinction.
I was thinking of water at rest wrt to Earth. Or both at rest and Earth spinning up.
