I feel that. I'm not necessarily leaving the hobby, because I still love keyboards, but I'm definitely learning that groupbuys aren't worth the hassle in most cases. Likely just going to buy in-stock or secondhand from now on.

Even then, some group buys just go under despite the creator's reputation. For example, the whole Charue Design situation: The owner completely disappeared a few months ago, has been ignoring all contact, the website was shut down, and now he's been disputing chargebacks. And before all of this, the guy had a great reputation -- he was even the moderator of r/mechmarket.

GMK is a keycap manufacturer based in Germany. They use the original Cherry keycap-making equipment to make doubleshot ABS keycap sets that are expensive, but relatively high-quality. GMK sets are popular both because of this quality, and because of their legacy as the "original" brand for premium keycaps.

It's not usually because of poorly thought out kitting, though. The kitting of this keycap set is just a bad/not-fully-thought-out move on Kono's part - something that I've heard is all too common with them.
(Instead, the $1k+ price tag is because people end up buying a limited-run $600+ keyboard kit, a $150 GMK set, two sets of $70+ switches for a single set of frankenswitches, a $50 cable, and an extra $50 on stabilizers, film, lube, and other extras.)

Shopee is a super-unreliable site from everyone I've talked to, and James Donkey's products have never struck me as being the best value. I would recommend, based on where you're located, seeing if there are any local stores or vendors that stock Keychron's products - they're really fantastic, considering the price.
