Reply to Stamford OKs $25,000 federal arts grant for new mural — but it can't be 'divisive' or 'controversial' by Pinkumb
This is a waste of time. Stamford has no creative soul or fire at all. As a street photographer I lost all inspiration when i moved here. People who live here are either pleasantly comfortable or living in challenging situations, but there’s no sense of cultural expression here aside from pleasentry or difficulty. I’ve lived all over the US and this is the least artistic community I’ve ever experienced. I even lived in an aircraft carrier and found more creative inspiration in the grey belly than here.
This is going to either be an epic failure that gets repainted or an epic display of nothing inspiring at all.

Reply to Book store / Jazz club??? by Careless_Whisper10
No jazz clubs or mom/pop book shops but we have three vape shops and an entire street of mundane restaurants that become underage nightclubs at 10pm.
We also have a weird store that never seems to be open yet displays random health supplements in the window. (What’s up with that place?!?)
But sadly no one plays Herbie Hancock let alone Flip Fantasia

Reply to Is Stamford safe? by NameRevolutionary151
I find stamford to be unpredictable. When I lived in Brooklyn it was fairly easy to identify danger and avoid it. Stamford seems to be more spontaneously volatile. For instance, in NYC you can usually sense if someone down the block is going to be aggressive. I’ve found it difficult to get a read on people in that manner here and have had people shout and lunge at me in threatening ways with far greater frequency. My experience with this is usually near the new WWE building walking to and from the train after 10pm.

Reply to What kinds of businesses would you like to see in Stamford that aren’t here currently? by [deleted]
A Brooklyn style bodega sandwich shop that also has a great grocery and veggie stand.
Also a jazz club with good cocktails that isn’t overrun by college kids and underaged high school students from westchester.

I’m doubling down on this question. Stamford isn’t small.

Reply to Urby Complex Now a Yellow Circle on Top of Building. Anyone know what this is for? by PatriotsSuck12
Couldn’t they have come up with a more aesthetic design for the bracket mount that connects it to the building? The amount of metal holding it to the building is bigger than the clock itself! Definitely unsightly AF!
