Most copier manufacturers have their own pdf compression that generally puts a scanned page between 50 and 150kB, down from about a Meg if they don’t do anything fancy. I only realised after years of working with them how that isolated out things that looked like letters and basically averaged each letter representation on the page to slow better compression. The only reason I realised was due to a big in a released firmware that only affected compact pdf (that was quickly pulled within 24 hours). The big basically made all the letters not line up in a row on each page so they’d move up and down the line a bit.

Gotta agree here. Dyson is good enough and better than most but not bifl. I had to send away my corded upright after a year for repair because an internal bolt dropped out of it. This replaced a 7 year old barrel dyson that the end kept falling off and we couldn’t get a replacement for as it was too old.

They’re just good enough in all regards.

My parents in law bought a Peugeot pepper grinder the same as ours after we got one as a wedding gift. They destroyed it in 2 years because they couldn’t comprehend that a burr grinder is designed to operate one way. So instead of rotating it clockwise, they’d rotate it back and forth angrily and then start hitting it at the table when nothing came out.
