I'm not an expert but I believe the use case is if you're in an environment where you have no gradient to learn from, or even, without the hope of approximating a gradient to learn from.

If your ML is running on a computer, it's digital. If your ML is running on some bare metal capacitors/ inductors circuit board then sure, keep it analog.

GANs have potentially faster inference speed. If latency or throughput is a requirement then GAN might be a better choice.
