Cambridgeport is great for walkability to the Trader Joes and Whole Foods in that area. Can also walk up to Central Square to catch the subway or go to a restaurant, post office, etc.
Friends that are carless in Somerville just use Zipcar whenever they need a car, which is rare. They are big bicycle advocates.

I'd ask for specifics on what the electricity issue is as a start. As others mentioned, what does it say in the lease about AC and laundry?

Back in the day when you had to pay in actual quarters, I caught someone writing me a ticket on Mass Ave in front of MIT 5 minutes before the meter expired. I said "I have 5 more minutes" and they stopped writing the ticket and sort of slunk away.
