the only thing "unexpected" about Discovery's cancellation is that it took five seasons.

also, the section 31 show is a terrible idea that nobody asked for and I'm not sure anyone really wants. S31 only worked when it was an organization shrouded in mystery, and it was kind of killed as a concept back in Ds9 when they stripped back all those layers of mystery. Not to mention Yeoh's Discovery character is (through no fault of the actress) fucking stupid.

my biggest gripe about that show was that it was the cleanest, least destructive apocalypse I've ever seen. That, and I know this is nitpicky, but you see zombies take full brunt shotgun blasts at close range get up and their clothes aren't even torn, like, come on. Also, the school episode will piss you off way more.

That said, season 2 is pretty good.

a bit light on details, though I think it's likely by "mafia" they are specifically referring to the Sicilian Mafia (rather than the Neapolitan or Calabrian Mafias - Camorra and 'Ndrangheta respectively). It would be interesting to see something like this set during the second mafia war... or maybe in the aftermath when it started to become not entirely uncommon for women to involve themselves in their now imprisoned husbands' mafia business.
