I would prefer that it not be there. But it's a relatively minor thing - not enough of a reason to nix a purchase. You'll probably not notice it (much) after a few days.

Reply to Apple, please go to the table with google and come up with something better that everybody can use if iMessage is going to be off limits to non apple users. We need a solution to this. These messages may be coming from an email > SMS gateway. For example, with T-Mobile you can send an email to [number]@tmomail.net and it'll be forwarded automatically via SMS/MMS to the specified 10-digit phone number.
With T-Mobile there is an option in the account settings to "Block TMOmail.net email." It's unclear whether this option works however - as there have been some reports claiming that it's broken. Other cellular providers may have a similar option.

In addition to what others have stated - the displayed percentage can move up or down slightly from reading to reading. Check again in a few days and it might be back to showing 99%. It's an estimation/guess so don't be too worried about it.

You could add a USB-C data blocker like the PortaPow to your current USB-C > Lightning cable.

That's gonna be interesting!
I agree that wired is usually more reliable. And probably faster.
