ironically, the more people walk on the tracks, the more useful it would be to just walk on the tracks to get where you need to be.

That kind of jobs program is called “dead weight loss,” it’s not really a sustainable approach, and adds significant friction to a system.

The one in East Rutherford is inside the American Dream mall. I don’t really get how that is commercially viable. Are people going to pay $5 to park, just to go to the grocery store?
I’m guessing it’s supposed to be a flagship storefront.. I don’t think grocery stores need those, though.

technically they could probably work out that you did this. if you're going in the return direction, then your ticket would show it was validated at a station that the train in that direction would not have arrived at yet.

I like the part where we can’t ever just have a nice moment without taking it to the other extreme.

i feel like at this point, they should just knock it down. It could have been nice, but it's not going anywhere, and the amount of brain damage it's going to take to make something sustainable and agreeable is going to be absurd.

And for those that have abatements, they can still mark to the market but instead of all that additional rent going to the city, it goes into their pockets.

Yeah I don’t take those calls. OP is right, they should fix the system, and it’s not my fault that they can’t organize it correctly. it doesn’t seem to be a hard issues to handle.
Also fwiw I don’t think it would do anything to reduce the surcharge.but it would make the user experience better for both the driver and passenger. Take the friction out.

That’s what I was getting at. I push a stroller pretty often and when the crosswalk is blocked with a car on a busier street it does actually feel significantly more dangerous.

There was prob a car there when they first parked. Why does thr “a few blocks from a school” part matter? I do t think it sucks any more or less when it’s near a school.
