The truth is that nobody actually knows and the lines which constitute AGI are too blurred anyway. At some point there might be a turning point with multimodality and machines will become conscious and self aware. Without this we'll be stuck with LLMs and all of their limitations. Also I believe with the current architecture and compute power we're likely still around 40 years away.
