I'm on the board of our HOA too and we had pretty much the exact same issue. When the contact was up, we terminated the previous hauler (Tenleytown) and switched to a new one (Republic Services). Service seems to be better and they definitely separate trash and recycle, at least at our property.

Discharging a gun on public space is a crime.

No one injured, minus one individual who was hurt trying to run from the area. The report will likely be for "sounds of gunshots" which is MPD's non-criminal classification for gunfire incidents that don't result in injury or damage to property.
EDIT: The report was actually classified as 'unlawful discharge' and 'destruction of property'

MPD is expecting the worst, considering they've canceled our days off and put us all on 12 hour shifts. Obviously that's mostly just in case things get out of hand.

DC Superior Court is not a federal court. It’s judges are picked by the president and confirmed by the Senate, but it’s not in the federal system. DC inmates who are convicted of felonies go into the BOP system because of a 1997 law enacted by Congress.

If by federal, you mean prosecuted by the US Attorney's office, then yes. But the charges are local (DC) charges, not federal (US) charges.

One small thing, the article incorrectly characterizes the charge for which Miller was actually arrested. His arrest warrant charged him with First Degree Murder While Armed (Premeditated). It was his plea deal that got him voluntary manslaughter.

You're correct that in DC, handicap spots are noted with the red-capped parking meters. Admit with explanation, plead that you're an out-of-towner and didn't see any other sign or marking indicating it was a handicap spot, and maybe the hearing examiner will have mercy on you and reduce the fine. If you straight-up contest it, you'll lose and will definitely be paying the $250. With AwE, at least there's a chance.

Yea I'm not sure if they've done anything different. Sometimes they'll miss a collection day, but usually if our property manager calls, they arrange for a same-day later pick-up or will come the next day. So far, no complaints!
