Reply to why do series shows always have so many seemingly random people directing every episode? by OctoberRust13
If you direct any episode you can join the Directors Union. In the US it is the Directors Guild of America. That is why many "Star Trek of any type had different directors (except Harry Kim for some reason)
It levels up your resume.

Just down the road to the North on 365 a turn off and a dirt/gravel road takes you to the arrested decay ghost town of Bodie. Worth the drive for photos. Don't know how bad the road is anymore. But a higher clearance vehicle is probably a better choice. A return trip up Hwy 108 and Sonora Pass is also very beautiful and picturesque. (if open, closed for snow)

Anyone who goes to eastern Yosemite should go see Mono Lake at Lee Vining. If you drive down Hwy 120 just south of Lee Vining and drive to the Nevada Border. (not too far) there are lots of great roller coaster hills and some great rock formations and volcanic piles of rock.

Reply to Whats stopping us from sending a probe into a black hole if we haven't already? by stealth941
The nearest "black hole" is probably tens of thousands of light years away from the Earth. No one is sending a probe, unless you wish to wait for a very very very long time to get there and a very very very long time for any results to be returned.
