Nobody seems to be pointing out that the city is ending this because of a union grievance. The city tried something new to solve a real problem and the union used its contract/the law to block it. Please share the blame and recognize that in some cases the union’s interest don’t align with residents’ interests.

Most ridiculous part of this article is the notion that elementary teachers would leave the district if start times move. These are the highest paid teachers in PA, they’re not going anywhere.

So assuming you do not have a contract and your work is non-exempt, then your rate of pay for calculation of OT has to be your regular rate of pay (ie your normal rate). So any change is across the board and your base rate cannot be changed for only OT hours.

First, it only applies to audio. So if there was no audio recorded and only video, then there is no possible violation.
Second, there must be a reasonable expectation of privacy where the recording is taken. Although that is case by case basis, that is basically never anywhere in public setting.
