Damn straight I have been waiting for it. When I pull up behind someone with paper tags that expired in 2021, I think the chances are pretty good that they don't carry insurance and probably don't even have a valid license.

Any idea if this is a good or bad thing?

Quantum at least had a "notify me when my address is connected" page. Brightspeed can't even find my address.

Gives me bad vibes when our municipal fiber changes hands in such a short time.

That's just food snobbery.

Sure, there are authentic mexican places like Tacos El Champu that I frequent. But, a burrito enchilada style from Villa is freaking magic when that's what you're craving. There's nothing else like it anywhere.

I know you said she checked all of the boxes, but making sure it's been posted in both FB groups Springfield Lost & Found and Leigh's Lost and Found.

Both of those groups are amazing.

Makes me wonder if there's any interest in a broadcastify type of group here. I don't know how it would work specifically, but there's a lot of time during my work day where I just have the scanner channel going as background noise. Sometimes I do it at night while I'm playing video games as well.

You're missing the point, James. The house on the corner of National was just what people focused on because it was historic.

The issue isn't that one house. The people who live in the University Heights neighborhood will now have commercial traffic where they've never had it before. The development won't just be that one property. Because they're building on one of the busiest intersections in the city, the main ingress and egress will have to be on what used to be quiet side streets.

You can disagree with them and say it's progress, but at least know the issue at hand. It has nothing to do with anyone caring about the "right kind" of people. If you'd read the articles, you'd know that it's going to be a doctor's office, retail space, and "executive lofts".

The right kind of people, you say.

Right, so you did your due diligence and actually looked into it and formed an opinion. The T in CRT stands for "theory", so you're allowed to disagree with it.

But, listen to any political commercial on TV in Missouri. "Democrats want to teach your kids that white people are all evil and racist, just by being born white."

It never had anything to do with that, it was always an elective college-level course around race relations, and it's actually pretty interesting.

I'm just saying that the Great Replacement has become the tool of the day, as stupid as it is, but it works to scare people.

CRT has been weaponized very effectively. But, I've not been able to find anyone that can actually tell me what it is.

I mean, I know what it is, because I actually read things and don't just watch OAN. But, the superintendent of Springfield schools had to make a public statement that they have never taught CRT and never intended to after some of the pants-on-head city council meetings.

I know the neighborhood is concerned about the property being rezoned as commercial, but I don't believe that is their biggest concern.

The main reason I've heard is that those streets to the NW of National and Sunshine have always been low traffic, only used by people that actually live there.

Part of building right on that corner will be that the entrances and exits from the business will have to be on University Street. Maybe entrances, but how is anyone going to leave a business on the corner of one of the busies intersections in town? So, instead of a the quiet side street they've had for years, now there will be a lot more traffic.

I get people saying, "Who cares, it's legal and get over it", but I've been in the same situation in another area of town. A developer comes in and says, "No really, it will totally not change anything for you guys." But, now I have 10x more traffic down what used to be a very quiet side street in front of my house, accidents, people parking where they shouldn't, etc.

Just saying they're not just some NIMBY activists not wanting historic houses torn down, they're worried about the impacts a little further out.

I live on a pretty busy two lane road here in town. I won't say which, but it's a 30mph road that's very narrow with no shoulders where everyone does 45+ because it's a long stretch.

I couldn't tell you the number of times someone has passed me on this road, which is completely illegal and very dangerous.

Two days ago, someone passed me because I had the gall to be going the speed limit and there just happened to be a cop right behind me, who immediately pulled them over.

It doesn't happen often, but every once in a while there's karma.

Yeah, this. Most cities now won't chase motorcycles because they're too fast to catch and if you do chase them, they end up splatting into something.

So, I get the police department's reasoning. But, they know they can't be chased, so they have no reason to get a valid license, plates, insurance, or follow any traffic laws.

However, when one of them eventually does become a meat marker, I'm supposed to feel all sad even though they traumatized the family they ran into and straddled them with a bunch of bills to pay because they don't have insurance.

This is just more ranting about an old subject, but the motorcycle scene in Springfield is annoying. I typically drive by the Eagle Stop on Battlefield at least twice a day, and if it's after dark there's always dozens of them.

Tonight, when I was driving by, there was one doing a wheelie down Battlefield while some others were completely blacked out, running through the red light at Battlefield and Kimbrough as a group while traffic had to sit and wait.

And, of course, couldn't find a license plate in the group because, why would you if the SPD isn't allowed to chase you?
