Yeah, my experience with DeCamp included a lot of waiting for late or missed buses in the dingy basement of Port Authority.

And that one time we had a driver who had to be either severely sleep-deprived or under the influence from the way he was driving. Fucking unsettling.

They were better than not being able to go into New York at all, but by god did I hate having to rely on them.

How's your stamina, and how much are you bringing back on the 99 Ranch grocery runs? I make the trip there pretty regularly from the Heights with no car, and you're way closer to it than I am. For me, the big downside is that light rail service absolutely sucks on weekends--plus, there's dragging your groceries up the steps from Hoboken--but at under a mile away, you probably don't need it. I will say that using a rolling shopping bag makes a big difference.

They also deliver, though you do have to deal with delivery fees and tips then.

No kidding. Went to Central Ave Wonder Bagels once and had to wait way too long for a mediocre bagel while the guy at the cash register (who was also making the bagel for some reason) ranted about how we'd all be speaking German now if Biden were president during WW2.

Screw it, I'll just walk to Hoboken.

What part of Northern VA? Just curious. I was living in Alexandria for a bit and found so much of the region deeply unpleasant to navigate without a car, especially compared to what I was used to growing up in NJ.

I'm living in the Heights now, though close enough to Hoboken that I can easily walk to the light rail. I don't have a car, and I don't feel myself itching to get one. Things get dicey with NJ Transit on weekends, but I try to be patient and bring a book.
