The next day? It's been 45 years.

Honest question, do you know the history of the park? Because for most of those years privatization wasn't stopping ball fields and active use, Friends of LSP was.
That's not to say there hasn't been a shit load of awful proposals over the years (amusement parks, etc.) but the people 'protecting' the park have also been, until basically last week, vehemently opposed to any active recreation.
The local community has every right to be skeptical of pretty much everyone.

What strawman? Part of the privatization proposal includes getting the fields and access done. You may think that it won't happen, or it is a bad trade-off, but it's not a strawman.

Does waiting 45 years for their access and fields have no negative impact?
I don't want it privatized, but at some point you have to fucking deliver.

Yes, but if you don't want scummy private interests to make a campaign out of you not fulfilling your promises to a community, you should probably fulfill your promises to a community.

In fairness to the Bergen Lafayette community, they've been waiting for better access and rec fields since 1978.
Check out pages 13 & 14.

This is the answer. I don't live in the Heights, but there are some spots that look very cool. Fuck me if I can figure out a good way to get to them.

I'm never happy to see a place close, but also never that surprised. Running a restaurant is exhausting, and if you're not absolutely killing it it can be hard to justify the amount of time and effort needed.

Depends on your taste, my go to is Music City, but my wife prefers Old Faithful. They're all great though.

My favorite spot to just grab a beer because it's one of the few places that has the music low enough that I can hear myself think.
Also, great people and good eats.

That's a broad question.
Dull Boy has good drinks and food, Kitchen Step is nearby and very good. Archer has great drinks. Uncle Momo's is nearby and worth a look. Wurstbar has the best chicken sandwiches on the planet.

Oh, I know it's not getting built, I just want people to understand it isn't because it is difficult in any way, it is because our country is broken.

It's a small pedestrian drawbridge, not an engineering marvel. We're going to be building a fuckton of stuff in the park, asking to build a small bridge doesn't seem unreasonable.
I also fail to see how 'taller/larger boats' is at all meaningful when talking about a drawbridge.
It's amazing how tied in knots this country has become that building literally anything is considered an impossible ask.

While, yes, they aren't going to build one, the walk around and back down to the waterfront is probably 45 min, not 10-15.

Ogunquit Maine has one as well, though I guess you can't expect Jersey City to have the same resources available as Ogunquit, a town of 927 people.

We could use a bit of everything you mentioned. Sadly, no, nothing seems likely.
Imagine how insane the idea of the PATH or subway would seem now. Somehow we've engineered a society that makes it impossible to do things that used to be ordinary.

It is extraordinarily difficult to figure out the bus routes in JC (or an NJ Transit route).
Anyway, a dedicated bus lane or two would be amazing.

Yup, and no new pilots downtown. He's a bit scummy and self serving, but there also aren't a lot of mayors I can think of that I would trade him for.

It wasn't the case for many developments, the city is well aware of it and has worked to try and see that it doesn't happen. The units are 1 to 1, so there is space for everyone. The rent price will still be 30% of income. They can't do new background or qualification checks.
I'm sure some won't make it back in, for various reasons, but it won't be because the city intentionally screwed them.

They did a lot of work with this project to make sure that anyone displaced has rights to move to the new building when it was done. Now, execution is always key, but they did put in work on the issue.
