I doubt Joyce wants to work hard enough to actually become mayor.

Everyone advocates for it, actually having a workable plan is something else entirely.
You can build government housing = higher taxes
You can have min requirements = more density
People flip the fuck out about both of those options so ...

It's been right turn only for years. Also, Monmouth already backs up to CC from Newark with just one lane going straight. It's all full up, allowing another lane to go straight doesn't add more capacity where it bottlenecks, it's the equivalent to expanding the TPK to get more people through the tunnel

Magic, why hasn't he tried magic yet to solve the traffic problems?
I wonder at people who think that a mayor of a small city next to NYC can do fuckall to fix this sort of thing. Oh sure, Fulop has made it miserable for people who drive. As if adding lanes or roads has fixed a single traffic problem in any city ever.

I mean the traffic sucks on Jersey, Monmouth & Marin and they have done fuckall to remove cars or driving lanes on those streets, but what has happened is a bunch more people decided to drive after the pandemic and they opened up a nice new express exit to downtown with the Jersey Ave extension.

I was in Costa Rica once and the chef at the place we were staying was super excited to show us his cheesecake as we were from the NY area. He was building it up and building it up...
When it came out it was made from queso and ... not good. He had very obviously never actually tasted a cheesecake before making his version.
Costa Rican cheesecake is now our go to reference for when we get inexplicably bad food of some kind.

It really depends on where you are going and your comfort level. I would say that if you are asking the question, the answer for you is probably no.
We don't have a very good network of connected protected bike lanes, and some roads that are vital to get from one place to another are not at all safe.
But, there are routes that are protected and other roads that are pretty safe, so if you happen to be able to use those it can be pretty great.
I don't know if there are laws about locking to street signs, given the number of bikes I see locked to street signs probably not.
I use Grove St Bicycles.

It's kind of a problem that the TPK gets paid by the amount of traffic it generates.
moobycow t1_j0uvmqh wrote
I like how they pose the question as if fixing traffic has anything to do with this. They could fix traffic tomorrow, make one lane a dedicated bus lane and they move many multiple the number of people into NYC and get rid of a huge amount of traffic. They don't want to fix traffic, they want to generate traffic because the TPK gets paid by the car.

Frequency is the key to all good transit, especially if, god forbid, you have to transfer.

Got it. That does seem to work OK (rider tools --> trip planner). Thank you.
I wonder why that functionality isn't available on their website? Seems like maybe you'd want people to plan trips without an app as well.

Thank you, but that is not my problem (I may be a moron, but not so big a moron I don't know the difference between a train and a bus)
Say I go to the NJ Transit site:
https://www.njtransit.com/bus-to
I know there is a bus stop at Hamilton Park, but I don't know the line number (Hypothetical).
What do I do to figure out when that bus arrives and where it goes?
I ask because I know there are a lot of bus stops in the area that aren't JSQ, but I have no idea to source a good way of how to get to them, or what buses service them on what schedule.
If I already know the exact stop (by #) or the schedule it is fine. How do I discover routes if I just know the area I would like to arrive in, and it's not a station?

Related:
No. 126 Weekdays: 10 trips will be added to New York between 7:30 AM and 9:00 AM, with seven of these trips serving Clinton Street.
No idea how many of these will include the HP stop
moobycow t1_j0ubmgk wrote
Maybe this isn't the right place, but how the hell do you actually find bus options? I can look on NJ transit, but I can only seem to get the JSQ trains on there.
Like, if I know there is a bus stop at a certain corner how do I figure out where that goes and when? Or, if I know I want to get to a certain area of a certain town that I know has bus stops, but not a station, is there a good way to look that up?
Or, do I just have to already know the line somehow?
For example, I know there is a bus stop at Hamilton Park, I know I can get on that and go to Port Authority. How would I go about getting those directions online (without already knowing the line number).
Sorry if this is all basic and I am a moron.

You sound like you will be better off in JC. Hoboken is great, but more of a party vibe, skews young when going out.
For carless, make sure you look downtown, close to one of the PATH stations.
Best of luck.

All the families we know that moved out, moved out when the kids were very young. Pretty much everyone in my daughter's class, and the classes of other kids we know in different schools stayed and are now going to HS.

LCCS, Infinity, Academy I, Beloved, Explorer, Conti, Conwell, I'm sure I'm forgetting some/don't know some.
HS: County Prep, High Tech High, Infinity, Liberty, McNair. That new tech school in LSP will be open in a few years (probably). You can go to Hoboken as it is a magnet for Hudson County, which has a very good AP program.
Some of the local Catholics are also good (both in the JC area and NYC). If you're in Paulus Hook, chances are the privates are also an option.

Especially at 6pm on a Wednesday, or during F'n brunch. Hell, there are a few coffee spots that are uncomfortably loud.
I was in London recently and very few places were playing loud music when I went in, it was amazing.
