I'll take the D party treatment of Sanders (who is not a D) over the R party treatment of Cheney or Pence.

Listen, it's shit all the way down on both sides, but there is not real equivalence between the parties at the moment, corruption, nepotism, integrity of the system. There's no area where the shittiness of Ds is in the same universe as the current shittiness of the Rs.

School board is impossible to vote for, and an impossible job (sure let's have 9 unpaid people in charge of a $1b budget and rotate them every couple of years based on very little information). Schools should probably just be run by mayors, or the state

It's just a style/story preference one way or another. Books are trying to accomplish different things, some are wish fulfillment, some explore loss, and all sorts of things in between.

I do get taken out of the story when I know that the characters are all going to be fine in the end, but I also know lots of people want that and it can be a nice escape from a world where that is definitely not the case.

Yup, lots of raccoons as well. They are also super cute, really smart and have thumbs so they pretty much get in wherever they like. They are mostly out in the early to mid evening.

Also mostly chill, but if you see one acting strange or aggressive or out during the day, report that and stay away because it might have rabies.

Basically, in this area, don't get sprayed by a skunk and don't touch poison ivy. Neither are really going to do you much damage, but they will ruin your week. Other than that, do tick checks if you've been out in the woods or a grassy area because the little bastards can give you lyme disease.

Oh, and don't pet the rats.

We have rattlesnakes and black widow spiders, but you are not going to see a rattlesnake in JC (and honestly, other than rock climbers, I don't know anyone who has had an issue).

You could theoretically find a black widow, but they are pretty obvious and also uncommon.

This would likely be awful, narrower sidewalks, probably less parking, wires everywhere, more difficult trash pickup and a completely overloaded electrical grid.

On the plus side, maybe if they lined all the streets with chargers, they could move the grid underground.

Can't wait until even more of our public space is given over to cars to facilitate charging them all.

I hope they figure out a better fast charging solution before all of our sidewalks are lined with charging stations.
