We enjoyed this show as well, but I can definitely agree with all of the criticisms above. I also agree that it’s like “Evil Normal People” for sure. I liked that they didn’t hold back on showing how toxic the relationships got and while they did show some of the reasons for why they were this way, they didn’t cop out and provide a happy, contrived ending.
I don’t think it should get a second season, though, as I can envision it just becoming a tired retread of everything we just saw. I like where they left it and given that it’s adapted from a book, perhaps it’s best to leave it at that. While the acting left something to be desired at times, I found the actor playing Stephen did a hell of a job with the character and often the suitable facial expressions from him really sold the character. That last look at her in the finale in the final moments was perfect to capture just how toxic he was as a person.
Didn’t expect to like this as much as I did when I first started it, but was worth the watch.
