I'm in Canada and the talk is about waiting for the USA to end changing the clocks so jurisdictions here can synchronize.
Of course nobody is talking about how a change to permanent DST makes less sense at higher latitudes (note the preponderance of southern states enacting permanent DST legislation where it makes more sense). In northern US and Canada it makes a lot less sense

Not just ancient. The Netherlands is a great recent example of what happens when dairy consumption is increased (post-WWII I think).

North American land mass has the unfortunate problem of extending well into the Arctic Circle, so a cold air mass comes down unimpeded if the jet stream will allow it. I don't think British Isles or Europe could ever be as cold as Canada / Northern US

My understanding is that they change to stereoscopic vision when focusing on prey. I didn't realize they can judge distance using a single eye, thats impressive.
