Reply to What the hell do I do about a trash bag that has been slashed open when trash collection doesn't get it? by bibbitybobbityfuck
I saw a dude sweeping up his block (South Philly) last month while walking by and witnessed a neighbor open her door, hand him some baked goods and thank him. I thought, what a wonderful thing to witness.
I decided to sweep up beyond my stoop the next week and 3-4 neighbors watched in amazement, called me the new block captain - all because I was tired of seeing broken glass on the block.
I hope if you continue to do what you're doing you'll inspire someone else (like my lazy ass, or maybe one of your lazy neighbors) to do the same.

Honest question: if we don't refer to the mall as being a part of/disrupting Chinatown, why will this stadium referred to as being "in Chinatown" considering it's, not.

Between the "..who flipped *one* car" comment and the generalization of people from an area that spans 15 different zip codes... this is a dumb contribution I'm sorry

Insane - if you're in the left lane on any of these streets and/or need to turn it's a dgamn death trap.

Reply to Third Bicyclist Killed in Philadelphia in January 2023 - Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia by hdhcnsnd
Also - once at a stop light in CC a taxi INTENTIONALLY bumped my back bike wheel with his front bumper in an attempt to... get me to move up? But my wheel got stuck under his bumper. Only until I got off my bike and threw my fist down on his hood did he put it into reverse.
I could tell from his reaction he felt this was totally normal/justified - that he could use his 2-ton human-crushing vehicle to brush me aside.

I was hit by a car while biking in North Philly years ago. Driver slowed to a stop until (presumably) I started to get up, then sped off.
I continued to my ride to work - where I delivered sandwiches at Jimmy Johns all day and night on that same bike.

I watched a trailer drag itself under a Merritt bridge on Sunday. Was about 50 yards behind it, saw sparks fly and the trailer pop out from the other side like a buoy out of water.

I grew up in Wethersfield and loved it. Went to 2 different elementary schools and they were both great. Only knock is taxes, not super racially diverse. Super quaint, safe.

Holy shit is this ignorant. People in poverty don't have time to worry about people in power. They're too busy starving, getting profiled by police, getting evicted and not getting qualified for loans or being considered for jobs.

Correct equation: people with power do not care about some people (nor investing in those people's surroundings), so those people choose not to care about their surroundings, nor other people.
