This is spot on. I feel like there were many times while I lived on the East Side that we would just get hammered with snow and the West Side towards Hopkins had a lot less. I just think especially with lake effect, it tends to roll in through the East Side more. As someone who loves snow, it was awesome being on the East Side.

Reply to What Pittsburgh neighborhood did you grow up in, do you still live there, are you still tight with your neighborhood friends? by buffripa
Grew up in the AK Valley around Burrell. Moved away for college. Live in Deer Lakes now because it’s only a 20-25 minute drive downtown without traffic (versus the old 45-50 minute commute). The neighborhood kids who went to college all still talk. The other ones probably go to Mogie’s and are still upset the football team finished 7-2 right behind Freeport and Shady Side who were 8-1.

Grew up here and lived in Cleveland for several years. While the hills and valleys are nice here, I do miss the layout of Cleveland (especially when commuting). The nice thing is both cities are only two hours away, so if I miss something, I can just have a nice day trip

We did a private screening of Spider Man last year at the Mills. It was $125 I think. I would recommend that Since you’re considering Oakmont/Cheswick and it’s only 5/10 minutes from there

We love it there. 25 minutes from downtown, 2 acres, and a 4 bed house for below $300k. Con is the Trumpsters, but we have privacy from them so it’s great.

I live in an similar area and can choose between 28, Parkway, Freeport Road, or Allegheny River Blvd. Each has their pro and con. 28 is always faster in a perfect scenario, but that’s sometimes now the case. When that occurs, the other roads all offer a great alternative, but 28 ain’t that bad. Plus if you don’t want to sit in traffic at HPB, just drive through OHara or Fox Chapel and enjoy the leaves.

Lol. I think PLS might have been one of my first job interviews too. It was for a job in one of their their administrative departments. Heard bad reviews too and declined the job.
