I saw a rule recently called the 80/20 rule. Live where your life will be easier 80% of the time.

You could have a few minute commute every day and drive 20/30 minutes 2/3 times a week, or drive 20/30 minutes every day and go somewhere easily 2/3 times a week.

There is a combination of factors. Price, size, quality of life stuff that matters, but id figure where that works out well and go from there.

So yeah, youd probably want to be in walking distance of the train, which means either harbor point or north up to like bedford street.

Thats your sweet spot for exploring.

My wife and i did the same thing pre covid, did lunch in harbor point and dinner at brickhouse. It was a fun couple days.

They have these weird electronic dart boards at a lot of bars

I think it depends what version of stamford you want. Assuming youre young people you probably want to check out harbor point and bedford street. Take the trolley around. (Its a free bus)

If you have a car id suggest spending an hour or two driving around, and maybe go for a hike. go to one of the beaches / waterfront parks. You can actually walk to one from harbor point.

Please check out our dying mall!

There isnt a TON to do in stamford. But its a nice place to live.

Boston is more expensive than stamford by a bit (think 10% give or take), but boston has more to do.

I lived in Boston for my 20s and early 30s and moved to stamford a few years ago. Id rather have kids here and be 35 i suppose. But i have no regrets of being 25 in Boston.

For reference, boston has 48 sq miles of land, stamford is 37 sq miles of land. Boston has 650k people and stamford has 130k people. (5x the people on 1.3x the land).

If you want urban life its boston, if you want suburban life its stamford. Its a nice suburb but doesn't feel like a city really.

It's more family oriented and young professionals priced out of downtown/ harbor point. There are certainly one bedroom apartments, or people with roommates, variety of folks in them.
