having worked in that line in the past, some do that intentionally for that reason. it's considered a perk of the job.

Yeah seriously unless they somehow knew what you wanted before you got there and had it waiting for you, or had it delivered to you by somebody else, there's no way this is happening. They'd need some kind of app to do either of those things. Possibly even a website. Hell even a telephone. And since none of those exist, yeah, I'm calling bs

I get the impression that this a very young person or perhaps somebody who has been their own boss for a long time. cause anyone who's worked an actual job knows how much of an impact your boss has on your job satisfaction. Anyone who doesn't get that is usually a) a NEET, or b) a problem employee

Better admin == happier teachers. Idk if you've ever had a real job, but sometimes you end up with a bad boss whom you hate and it sucks to go to work and deal with them.

I left my last job for that reason and now I have a job with a cool boss who has my back and doesn't throw me under the bus at every opportunity. So yeah, better admin == better teachers.

Capitalists have to extract every penny out of you. If they don't, it's an inefficiency.

Why should there be a free place to congregate when a capitalist can profit off that experience? Why should a capitalist pay for a mall for you to hang out in when you can just buy stuff from your phone and have it delivered? Why should a capitalist pay for you to have a good experience when we've proven that we'll still blow money on dumb crap on the internet even if we're crazy depressed.

Corporations are earning record revenues right now because they have cover to raise prices. Why should we have any money? A capitalist is entitled to your money. You're only entitled to pay your taxes (so that corporations don't have to) and to pay out the ass for basic necessities like groceries and housing.

Those boats don't wax themselves. So shut your mouth and open your wallet.

Honestly I think it's kinda cringe when people freak out about crime in the white parts of the city but don't say a word when something happens in Fulton and carver and mosby, etc.

It's a city. Guns are legal. Ergo people are gonna shoot each other. You're just pearl clutching cause you're white and want the crime to go back to the black parts of the city "where it belongs"

Richmonds violent crime rate isn't particularly bad. According to us news, we are below average. And that's with our stats being higher than they should be since we don't include surrounding counties like most metro areas (cities are parts of counties in every state except va)

That's a pretty nice neighbor, they gifted you some lumber, in the form of a fence. Take the fence down if you don't like it.

> The courts don't seem helpful in this matter,

That would imply you've gone to court. Lawyers turning your case down implies you haven't gone to court. Courts don't do anything until you appear before a judge. That's how court works. So this statement makes no sense. You said in another statement that the court won't hear your cause unless you're represented by an attorney and that is simply not true at all. Whoever told you that lied to your face.

Courts DO NOT give legal advice. They are not allowed to. The most they can do is give you the forms you need to fill out to file a case. You look up how to file a court case, fill out the forms (it's not super hard) and you go before a judge. You don't need to have or be a lawyer. A judge will hear your case and decide it on its merits. They are regular people and they will work with you.

Look up how to be a pro se litigant (pro se means representing yourself)

For real though, what you should do is get 2 or 3 quotes from contractors to take the fence down, then take it down yourself (or pay a contractor to do it, its up to you), then leave the lumber in your yard for your neighbor to take back. Then send your neighbor a certified letter saying they have 30 days to collect their lumber or you will sell it. Also warn them (in writing if you prefer, or verbally if you prefer) that if they pursue the matter in court, you will ask the court to award you damages in the amount of the quote from a contractor (assuming you took it down yourself).

If you paid a contractor to do it, you can optionally sue them in small claims court (if under $5k) for the costs associated with taking the fence down. You can also choose to charge them a modest ($10 per day) storage fee for storing their lumber until they take it back. Idk if a storage fee will actually fly in court, but you can't get what you don't ask for.

Here is how to file a claim in small claims court. Lawyers are not allowed in small claims, unless either party happens to be a lawyer.

Gaston flooded because shockoe creek flooded due to the rain.

The flood wall is not designed to protect richmond from shockoe creek flooding, only from the river. Shockoe creek is on the other side of the flood wall. So the flood wall couldn't have done anything in that situation. In fact its mere existence made it worse because it trapped all the water from trying to get into the river and instead held it in shockoe.

yeah but when there's enough rain for a CSO, what you're seeing is like 0.1% or less doo doo by volume (ddbv) compared to the insane amount of water contained in a rainstorm.

a 1-inch rainstorm deposits a little over a billion gallons of water, just in the city limits (27,154 gallons per acre, 40,040 acres in the CoR). The entire flow of the james river is 1.8 billion gallons per day.

So a 1 inch rainstorm dumps the equivalent of the entire james river's flow for about 12-13 hours into our sewer system.

The state of virginia estimates the average person generates 75 gallons of sewage every day. With a population of 226,000, lets use the number 100 gallons per person per day. That comes to 22 million gallons of water. 22 million into 1 billion is about 2.2 percent.

And that 100 gallon figure includes grey and black water. So the vast majority of it is going to be from your shower, dishwasher, washing machine, and sink. Unless you personally produce 100 gallons of feces in a day, I think its safe to say the average person produces less than 1 gallon of actual waste in a day.

Which brings the final number to about 226,000 gallons of actual doodoo out of 1 billion gallons of rainwater = not all that much doodoo, really.

I mean I definitely wouldn't drink it, but I bet it actually is cleaner than the water that's already in the james (and has accumulated runoff from farms upstream).
