Im not opposed to fees in general - only when a business model is shaped in a way that makes it difficult to avoid paying late fees even as a responsible customer. Some banks handle it responsibly, some banks are predatory with fees.

All those other methods are arguably anti consumer, designed to provide additional revenue to the company via processing fees or late fees(possibly). The only non fee method requires the consumer go out of their way to a retail location, in person which let's be honest, most people in 2023 won't do. That they removed the more convenient, fee free, consumer friendly option says everything to me and I agree with the op.

Xfinity is my fave for this. When the "additional" unavoidable fees make up more than 1/3 of your bill, something is very wrong imo.
