Norristown does have bright spots- Lou’s for zeps, 5 Saints Distilling, VonC Brewing, Theater Horizon is a great local theater, Elmwood Zoo, access to the farm park, August Moon, Emiliano’s, multiple legit taquerias, access to the R6, high speed line, SRT, etc. It’s not all doom and gloom.

I live in Plymouth but not far from Norristown. There are pockets that are ok- probably worth checking this out- https://crimegrade.org/safest-places-in-norristown-pa/ East Norriton, West Norriton and Bridgeport still have some homes that aren’t astronomical. One thing to consider is if you have kids or plan to- NASD isn’t the greatest.

Easton MD is a cute, colonial town with cozy vibes, good restaurants and an excellent wine/scotch bar.

Yes! I lived at 37 and lancaster over 30 yrs ago. It was my go to place for fun home decor.

Also adding if you did a weekend in Philly, in addition to the awesome Zoo and PTM, you could go across the river to see the aquarium.

Charlottesville VA- beautiful UVA campus, history, Shenandoah Drive, Luray Caverns, great beer and wine scene.

Your trip to central PA will really need to be dictated by the weather. If you live in the south and aren’t used to possibly driving in the snow, the trip up Seven Mountains to get to State College could be hair-raising.

Not Reading, but just over the bridge is West Reading. Vibrant Main Street, lots of boutiques, restaurants, craft breweries, etc. The old outlets have been transformed into really nice apartments. Close to Reading Hospital, Reading Art Museum, Grings Mill. If I had to move back to Berks, this would be my pick.

I’ve taken my 12-year-old to see shows there- Never had a concern. I also work in the area-you’ll be fine!
