Reply to How do you read non fiction books? by Retep_Rup
I prefer to read nonfiction while being very attentive too, and i mostly highlight them at points so i can look back. However i am making a habit of writing down about it once i finish the book, so if you want to write notes you can do it at the end of each reading session.

last year i did bingo reading challenge from Goodreads, where you get randomly generated card with various genres so i got to explore them.
this year i am doing a challenge to read around from different countries, as diverse as it gets. it's pretty fun browsing books and learning more about authors.

maybe you haven't found your genre yet, try to explore different genres and start with smaller books 100-200 pages, there are many good books out there contained within those pages.
