It's the idea that law is magical, and if you have the right incantations and scrolls/forms the law shalt do thy bidding.

Reply to comment by Vicarious-Lee-Eye in Why don’t the delivery Chinese restaurants in JC give fortune cookies? by jgech
I chuckled at first, but then I thought about it a bit. The joke is that the Chinese spy balloon is delivering american-chinese takeout food. Haha those ridiculous communists. But there are no fortune cookies in China. The people who work in these restaurants are not the CCP; and I know that's not what you meant but the joke implies that they are connected. Does anyone remember Freedom Fries? Bans on Stoli and Smiroff? That's all.

They're right, but as a professional COVID tracker, thank you anyway! The best days for tracking now is probably hospitalizations, though it is slower than cases.

Also at 99 ranch, there are frozen bags of chicken and ginger soup; the whole soup frozen, not concentrate. By the meat section. Very good when you are too sick to make soup.

I feel like the core issue is between Education Matters (the teacher's union, status quo) and Change for Children (property developers, reformers). Both groups do want good education--it's important for both keeping constituents happy and property values. But education matters puts its emphasis in getting the city to pay its fair share, while change for children emphasizes fiscal responsibility.

Sure, but it's not believable that tiktok's user base is 80% kids and 20% folks over 90 years old. There's going to be a normal distribution curve and the mean and median will be close together in this case.
