It is indeed an E/90X! For that, it's so light that I can just use command strips to hold it up.

Thanks for the concern, it's definitely something I will keep track of. These were too expensive to let die so I'll have to come up with a cooling solution if necessary.

Yea, it's still mostly open on top. I just put a bit of foam in one spot to hold them down and prevent movement.

Haha, it's a headphone cable. I enjoy IEMs and headphones alike, today is a headphone day.

They get fairly warm but they have some "fins" on the side if you can call them that. No vents on the top nor bottom, so I think it should be fine. Also the brackets make it so it's open on the very bottom and there is still some space on top. Good mention though!

This is the one, it's slightly taller than the stack so I did end up shoving some foam in the top just so it was harder to move it around, but with the feet on the DAC and amp they stay pretty secure, especially if you put the brackets close enough so the front catches. Also I bought separate screws since my desk is too thin for the screws that came with it.

I'm also very much enjoying the stack! The bluetooth is really nice when I'm using my work PC which doesn't have my music on it. The knob is also some serious ASMR, love the sound, and no channel imbalances for my very sensitive IEMs.

Just my personal take on this but just do something to mimic the packaging it came in or just something to keep them in place while being relatively soft. First thing that came to my mind is a storage tub with blankets or towels in it, just pack em in there.

I have considered it, but I'm honestly just too lazy to go through the hassle of listing and shipping as I have done it before. The resell value of a lot of my headphones is also quite low so I'd rather just keep them til they break. I'm not in need of money so no reason to.

I'd say most often it's the HD8XX, it's a good mix of great imaging for fps games but also good soundstage for immersive single player titles, comfort is also great. But sometimes I need a closed back or something with a larger sound for more immersion or something for when I listen to music while gaming or for more comfort. I think what I do is excessive though.

I definitely have favorites, but I try to keep them all in use so they don't gather dust. They all have a very distinct, yet niche purpose for me.

Currently sitting at 15 pairs of headphones, 15 pairs of earphones, 4 amps, 3 dacs, bunch of spare pads and tips, I've cable rolled, tube rolled, modded. ;-;

Ah, I see. Yea I have spinfits which I like but not ones that will fit on the big nozzles. I'll try the ones you mentioned and see if they work. Thanks for the tip! (no pun intended)

What is it about those tips that make the fit better?

I think a cool idea would be to get a Schiit Loki or Lokius. Then you would have some physical knobs you can use to EQ to your preferences whenever you want.

I agree with what most other people here are saying, if it's that significant of saving for you to purchase an HD800S, don't, unless you can listen to them first.
I would recommend taking a look at the HD8XX, while being tuned pretty badly, it can easily be fixed with EQ or the sticker mod to sound basically identical to an HD800S for much cheaper, especially if bought used.
