That's part of the problem. We were conditioned by decades of "the dashboard lights up when the headlights are on" awareness, but now with dashboard screens and light shows, and DRLs that are probably just as strong as their last car's faded-over headlights, there are a lot of drivers who see enough in front of them to think that their car's lights are on.

Get a second opinion but be ready for it to concur. My wife never picked up on suspension/steering issues that I could feel or hear. The four-wheel alignment is always associated with replacement of struts or control arms. On a state inspection, if you've got blown/leaking struts, they'd probably fail, and the control arms might fail if there are bushings that are worn to the point of looseness.

Good luck. When I first moved to Richmond in 2006, I needed a similar arrangement for six weeks, and luckily ended up being offered a spare bedroom in a house in Church Hill.

I think the homeowner saw my post on Craigslist about it, did a quick Google search to make sure I wasn't sketchy, and then the first time we met was at a dinner party he threw so he could get a bunch of different people's impressions of me at once.

Hoping you get lucky like I did.
