>beetroot (I think Americans call them beats)
You have a typo. We call them beets—"ee" instead of "ea". But you are correct.

So you're saying that the lunar cycle appears to be 23 days long to some women and it appears to be 33 days long to other women and to still other women the moon goes through the lunar cycle in some number of days in between?

Reply to Eli5 why certain internal combustion engines (like those on American muscle cars) make wildly different sounds than most other engines? by Daftworks
>Same goes for Harley Davidsons vs regular motorbikes.
With Harley-Davidson motorcycles, the V-Twin cylinders are 45° apart. With most other V-Twin makes the cylinders are 90° apart. The cylinders fire at slightly different times relative to the other cylinder and produces a different sound.
And, of course, a V-Twin will sound different than other engine configurations like an inline four or a triple.
A Boss Hoss sounds like a small block Chevy because it has a small block Chevy engine in it. For example, https://bosshoss.com/motorbike/standard-bike/

An example from the US is the Anasazi, a long gone people in the Southwest. When the Navajo came down from (what is now) Canada in the 1400s and 1500s, they referred to the people that already lived there as "ancient enemy" or "anasazi" in the Navajo language. The descendants of the Anasazi, the modern-day pueblo peoples, prefer to call them "Ancestral Puebloan".

A few years ago I toured the Anchor brewery in San Francisco. At that time they made Anchor beer in SF.

I think your reply ended up under the wrong comment. I saw one further down where it would make much more sense. ;-)

Reply to comment by velos85 in ELI5: How come some commercials will mention the competition by name but others use generic terms like “leading brand”? by OmarBarksdale
I first became aware of advertising on TV in the 1960s. I remember ads for laundry detergent, for example, that had a box with the lettering "Brand X", but the colors and designs were clearly a box of Tide. I was so clever because I saw through their shenanigans and recognized the box of Tide my mom used.

When talking about food, corn can still mean a small hard particle, like the salt they use in making corned beef.
