To my understanding they are paid hourly and then the bulk of everything comes from the tips. I try to tip in cash so the services aren’t taking a portion

I agree tipping is a shit system and think we should just raise prices to accommodate paying others better. Having come to that agreement, USPS is also a unionized job that comes with insurance and benefits. These delivery drivers are contract workers. They have zero benefits. They are forced to ride electric bikes during hazardous conditions.
It’s just a very unfair system right now so if I can pay my driver in cash, I do that. Keep it off the books for all I care. But I’m gonna do my part until we can change this flawed system.

If it’s raining or snowing I tip heavier. If it’s really cold or really hot I tip heavier. Basically if the elements are stopping me from going to get it myself, I’m going to give more to the person willing to do it for me. I feel like people have forgotten that other people exist behind these services.

Since when are lockdowns a thing? Bro. They have mandatory evacuations for natural disasters and mandatory curfews during times of civil unrest. Are you suggesting the government doesn’t have the authority to do these things? Lmfao.

You’re required to show proof of age to order a drink inside a restaurant in the United States. You’re required to show you’re wearing pants in any restaurant as public nudity is illegal.
Again, you’re gurgling on about basic rules of society. And the appearance of a historical pandemic in which MILLIONS have died, caused us to shift something’s around to navigate this pandemic (similar to how previous pandemics in the United States also required masks and vaccinations).
You’re just pissed by the inconvenience.

You were required for the last like 60+ years to get a vaccine before attending ANY school in the United States. Any of them. You also are required to get vaccinated to fly to other countries.
You guys have just pissed and moaned about COVID and its just a total self own every time.
Imagine crying about masks while you’re legally required to wear pants and a seatbelt in public or in a car. Like bro, go live in the woods if the basics of society are too much of a burden

Love how you think a once in a lifetime historic pandemic that affected every corner of the world was only capable of making people sad in NY.

#5 is a red flag. It’s legally required for your landlord to provide heat. Meaning heat they pay for to heat the building or heat that you must pay for your unit. I don’t think a lease can trump tenant rights but I’m no expert in the legalities of it. I totally would report it to 311 immediately as winter is basically almost here right now. If it gets shut off then I would push for a housing lawyer for next steps

I learned that methane gas from human waste water is already being used as cooking gas for some people in New York City. So, yea. It may seem gross but it’s also possible to use it as safe as possible for other other things

“When Feinberg called 911 and cops did not immediately respond, she walked to a local precinct to report the assault.
Feinberg refused medical attention, but suffered pain to the face, cops said.”
But…we can’t defund the NYPD. Because clearly their response time to a woman being beaten in the middle of the day is superb.

Look at what we saw with trump. Trump never personally hurt a minority group, but he spoke ill of Asians, LGBTQ, POCs, anyone who didn’t speak English as their first language. We watched hate crimes against all of them spike. The fool speaking may be too stupid or too popular to ever risk themselves acting on what they believe, but they idiots who follow them with a lot less to lose will gladly do it.
Thats why no matter who speaks like this, as a culture, we need to hold them and that speech accountable. Too many examples in history how “free speech” has evolved into real world war and conflicts.

I had an old woman start yelling at me that I didn’t slide over when a tourist girl opted to squeeze herself in the seat crammed up right against the pole attached to the middle of the bench.
I was reading and she never even said anything to me so I assumed she just wanted to sit on her friends lap. But no, some other old woman took it upon herself to yell at me because I didn’t read the room and move for the girl.
Honestly, if you want a seat or need someone to move over, it’s respectful to just ask. Not all of us are hyper focused on what other people are doing around us. I’m not an asshole. I just mind my own business and don’t stare at what other people are doing. So basically people; we are all adults. Use your words and say “excuse me can I sit there” or “excuse me can you move your bag so I can sit”. It’s not the end of the world.

Hopefully the owner of the restaurant backtracks and bans him again. What was the point of “giving him a second chance” when clearly he has no problem pissing on that second chance?

I’m fine with it if they just go all the way. Blue bottle has really nice paper cups with bio lids. I’ve used eco friendly “plastic” forks and knives and they work just as well as the plastic ones. Just go all the way and not half ass it with a paper straw in a plastic cup. Or at least allow me to refill my water bottle at a slight discount. Works for me too

Still cracks me up when I get a paper straw to use with my clearly single use plastic cup when I grab my coffee
