Every time someone posts a "CT is in the top 5 most desirable places to live" article here and people are like "How?" Generally tells you enough about their life experience to conclude they've lived here their whole lives.

There are exceptions of course, it's not a good fit for everyone but it suits me just fine

I think you only have to fall a couple hundred feet to reach terminal velocity. So your odds of surviving a fall don't appreciably change between 1000 and 30,000 feet. It mostly depends on where you land and the orientation of your body at impact. I heard it was actually better to fall into like tall wispy trees like a stand of spruce, anything that slows you down even slightly before you hit the ground can measurably improve your chance of survival.

Also the languages aren’t “lost” if we have an extensive record of their vocabulary and grammar and examples of people speaking those languages. Usually the reason people stop speaking those languages has more to do with convenience than oppression
