Not a lot of details in the article, but it’s pretty clear the guy is a legitimate journalist who has covered the region extensively.

> The FSB accused Gershkovich of collecting “information constituting a state secret about the activities of one of the enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex.” It provided no evidence.

> Gershkovich is a journalist covering Russia, Ukraine and the former Soviet Union.

> He was previously a reporter for Agence France-Presse and the Moscow Times and a news assistant at the New York Times, according to his author page on The Wall Street Journal’s website.

Seems like a ploy by Russia to secure another human pawn that they can use in negotiations with the United States.

We should expect more of this…

It doesn't sound like there is an immunity agreement. Rather, it sounds as if the prosecutors granted him immunity in order to get a judge to compel him to testify.

He won't be able to claim the 5th anymore (like he did last month), but I don't think it will stop him from saying "I don't recall". Unsure how valuable his testimony will be...

I read the title and thought that this sounds like a huge overreaction to something pretty silly. But then I saw the video.

These women weren't playing a joke and didn't even try to reassure the kids that did get scared, they were just being mean and getting laughs out of it. I don't know that there's anything criminal here, but I definitely wouldn't send my kids to that daycare.
