But the tanks the stations hold them in aren't the same. Some have updated double walled fiberglass tanks others have outdated metal ones.
Metal is corroded by the fill around the tank and also degrades overtime. Water and sediment enter and that's not good.
And also as someone else mentioned additives from the separate fuel companies themselves and their methods of storage as well.
