I have to go from Hackensack to Rochelle Park and back twice a week. 2.1 miles. No highways, just Essex Street. I allow 30 minutes and sometimes make it with a minute to spare. Being late costs me money.

I hated Christie for that. He lied about fear of overruns because The Big Dig in Boston was going on at the same time and had 200% cost overruns. Christie knew that. The Feds covered nearly all of it. I lived there from start to finish and the improvements it made in traffic and pollution was beyond imagination.

The one giant pain for commuters was that tolls went up on the Mass Pike(and still are)because the state was on the hook for a chunk of the overruns.

And somehow they are still a tiny fraction of Jersey. $7.50 to go the entire length of the Mass Pike. And in so so much better condition than the NJ Turnpike.

Still, Christie was witness to the Feds paying for most of the insane overruns on the project. Diverting that money was a total scam.

Yup. Now that I'm on Medicare, I could go to any one of the great Boston hospitals if I needed serious surgery or something. NYC has a good reimbursement rate, so I could go there too.

I hear you. "Thor: Love and Thunder" grossed far more overseas than in the US. "Avatar 2" is also not doing well domestically. However, both got bad reviews and word of mouth. IMHO, "Avatar 2" sucked except for the amazing CG. I've told all my friends to avoid it.
On the other hand, "Top Gun", "Wakanda Forever" "Doctor Strange 2" and "Minions" all did extremely well domestically. Clearly millions of Americans want to see blockbusters in a theater.
At the end of the day, I think that the studios are going to reevaluate how much they spend on blockbusters and whether to make one or not. An MCU film no longer means an almost guaranteed $1B gross. Disney is now putting more focus on TV Series than movies.

I’ve been in Consumer Audio for years and specialize in Home Theater/ Surround Sound. My system is worth a small fortune but I always go to a good theater to see new releases. Even my system cannot equal the picture quality of a Dolby projector ($200K) and and theatrical Atmos. ($250K). Finally, streaming movies are compressed in both video and audio.

I spoke to someone earlier who was there this afternoon. She had made some returns at Garden State Plaza, then went to AD. She said it was out of control compared to GSP because they were untrained and understaffed.

Regardless, NEVER go to return anything the day after Christmas unless you resign yourself to hell. I spent years in retail and December 26th was always the worst working day of the year.

Jersey bagels are often rated the best in the country. Zadie’s in Fair Lawn is cited as making the best challah in the US. So much of our state is infused with Jewish culture. Who doesn’t know a few great Yiddish words? Thanks, Jersey.
