I agree, this can work. I have family in Hanover who do this now several times a week. (And another to Petersburg from Hanover which is basically the same commute time). If you’re taking I-95 a lot can depend on which exit you need to get off, but typically budget 40/45 mins for the drive.

Don’t get scammed! Dominion is your distributor and supplier in Richmond and most of the state. It’s a monopoly. I believe you can elect to have your energy generated through alternative energy sources but it’s still just Dominion agreeing to purchase your usage from those green generators and then you get a surcharge for that. You will still get your bill from Dominion.

Don't forget, lines were redrawn and there's a lot of shuffling going on. I believe his redrawn district will see Delores McQuinn *eyeroll* as the main contender.

It was going to be the base for the Capitol Police and some other agencies post-renovation, but now there’s some fighting over which agencies will actually get to live there since the Youngkin admin inherited the project lol.

I mean if it’s a storied brand like Henkel Harris or Suter’s, you can do well. But most folks aren’t just letting that stuff go. I mean, if it’s actually nice stuff, maybe consider consigning it with a place like Izzie’s.

Already upvoted The Boathouse, but I must say, I get irritated every time someone recommends Brenner Pass. I mean, it's fine...it's just not all that compared to what you're gonna shell out, imho.

Reply to comment by gamerthrowaway_ in Richmond School board member proposes closing five schools to more efficiently use budget by Charlesinrichmond
Young proposes a version of this every once in a while and my bet is that he simply aims to drive a broader conversation that speaks to efficiencies. He likes to ruffle feathers. Closing (all) those 5 schools, specifically, isn't going to happen, but having the discussion could still be helpful in other ways. Me, I'm not a fan of closing schools for several reasons...And certainly someone other than Young himself would need to study which if any schools would even be up for discussion.

LOL, Richmonders love their Carpenter Theater and also “the Mosque” (Altria Theater). It’s funny, growing up, I always thought Carpenter was the more attractive one.

Nguyen Ballato is a debt collection law firm for a variety of city, county, hoa, medical and other small matters throughout the region. If you’re unsure, always ask for a validation and dispute. If you don’t want to give your address, perhaps an email but anything you give them, they will use it!

Exactly. You can feel the oncoming condescension within the first paragraph and it goes on from there… a spattering of kind platitudes without really ever getting beyond the decided theme they’ve chosen for Richmond, inevitably Civil War/struggling with racism/rebirth and some restaurants. They miss so much.

Berret's in Merchant's Square for a nice and even elegant meal. They've got a heated outdoor bar as well. Recommend the She-crab soup and the Original Blue Plate.

As far as the apartments there, they are decent. My buddy lived there in a 2br, and amenities were as expected for Shockoe apts and lofts, e.g., nice mid/late 2010s fixtures and fairly updated. Pretty clean and self-contained. Until not too long ago, I also lived in the Bottom, but the location isn’t for everyone. The Exxon is to be avoided late nights and basically the same for McDonald’s. Day to day, it’s probably not an issue, just something to be aware of. Happy TG!

It’s 40 ft here, but I feel like hardly anyone even paid that much attention to the rule, at least at polls around here, until 45 and I’ve been one of those annoying pamphlet peddlers at polls since 2014. Now, it’s really enforced.

Do you live in Church Hill? Having been connected with getting out the vote, I can tell you that the McEachin campaign did not spend on signs. They’ve asked folks who have yard signs to bring them to the polling place and stick them in the ground there. You should see at least a few signs out now. The city Democratic Party put out a few signs as well. At the end of the day, elections aren’t sign contests though! People have to vote.
