I bought my car from flood Mazda in Wakefield a few months ago and had a great experience.
Personally I would stay away from the Tasca dealers though.

Go to traffic court, admit your guilty, and then opt to do community service. I don’t believe you can use the good driving record yet since you’ve only had your license for 2 years. But if you opt for community service, the violation won’t go on your record. Source: I’ve done this myself :)

Reply to Best town for us? by MurrayMyBoy
I’m from Tiverton and would definitely suggest looking there. It’s a small town maybe 30 minutes or less from Newport. I grew up with lots of friends who had horses too. South Tiverton is the part of town with plenty of acreage for horses! It’s a quiet town, nothing huge really happens there. I wouldn’t call it quirky or artsy though! Happy to answer any other questions you may have about the area too.

Reply to planning a trip in November for a friends 30th birthday, so far we have the zoo, the botanical, the museum. What else should we do or see? we have roughly 10 days and coming out of Pennsylvania if that helps any. by Usual_Dot6883
- Tour the Newport mansions
- Visit the love craft grave or the Lizzie Borden house in Fall River if you like scary stuff
- Get a lobster roll, chowder and oysters at a restaurant
- There’s a fun old school arcade bar in providence that’s cool on weekends
- Walk cliff walk in Newport
- Visit the umbrella factory for funky local shopping
- See a show at PPAC or the VETS
- FYI, our zoo sucks so just be prepared for disappointment 😅
- Attend Waterfire in providence

If your at the top of federal hill, Camilles rents parking spots for $50 a month!
I’ve also lived on federal hill for 2 years, have parked on the street the whole time and have only been ticketed 4 times 🤷🏽♀️

Reply to comment by maybebullshitmaybe in Difference in Medicaid plans! by RI-Transplant
The plans will definitely be different and cover different things if it’s Medicaid vs employer, etc, but I personally still like tufts better and find that that all of their plans are easier to work with and cover more without having to jump through a million hoops.

Reply to Does anyone commute from Providence to Boston each day by train? We are seriously considering purchasing a home but we work at Mass General Hospital. Looking for people with experience to either talk us into it or talk us out of it. by [deleted]
Did it for like 2 years. Had to be to work at 8am, so I had to leave my house at 6am everyday, drive to the south Attleboro station (traffic builds up around that time already so I came close to missing the train several times). I’d get to ruggles station around 7:45. Took the train home at about 5ish and would get home around 6:45 each day.
It’s nice not having to worry about driving, and getting to relax on the commuter rail for an hour. Providence and south Attleboro are also some of the first stops in the morning, so you’ll always have a seat. But on the way home it was always packed and I never got a seat until people had gotten off after several stops. It’s also expensive . $4 a day for parking, and my job paid for a good portion of my monthly pass, but it was still over $250 a month for me.

I work with health insurances for work, so can only give advice from that perspective. Out of the insurances you listed, personally I’d choose Tufts. I have found that they have a much smoother/easy to navigate phone tree, website, and it’s easy to communicate with their phone reps. I’ve also found that Tufts covers more supplies/equipment. Like if you have a surgery and need a wheelchair, wound supplies, a nurse to see you at home, etc, way more places will accept Tufts. Obviously these are super small things compared many other factors!

The jack-o-antern fest is cute! They choose new themes each year & have a bunch of artists decorate/carve thousands of pumpkins. I’d say it usually takes about 20-30 minutes to walk through. If you do go, make sure you go after the sun sets and try your best to go on a weekday, as it will be WAY less crowded.

For Newport, you could visit some of the mansions if that’s your thing. They are almost always a self-guided tour with the option of using headphones as a tour guide. The mansions are extremely beautiful.

Newport will always be more expensive and harder to find an apartment than Providence, regardless of the season. For the most part it’s a very pretty, very touristy area with a lot of college kids. Apartments anywhere in RI have been more expensive lately.
Speaking from personal experience, I’ve always found my apartments on Craigslist and have had great luck. Just be careful of any posts that don’t include pictures, want money from you before letting you view the apartment, or just seem too good to be true. I’d say that in Providence, the cheapest rents will generally be about $800 for a 1-bedroom. My first apartment was in Lincoln, RI and was $725 for a 1 bed, but that was back in 2013.
