Yep. Last time I worked around this equipment I was in a giant excavator loading trucks The trucks I was loading were pretty damn big. Like you stand next to their tires and the tire is still double your height. And then one day another company loaned us their bigger trucks for the day. Here you could see our trucks by their trucks. It was like having a three story single family home next to a condo building.

This kind of thing happens often when a company with a niche decides it's going to try and expand into a different industry by acquiring a company. There's a lot of unwritten rules you have to adhere to and a culture that you have to respect.

With Hollywood, it's incredibly unionized.... except for CGI and VFX.... which is really the only aspect of a Hollywood film that you can really meddle with costs without getting in trouble. Actors, directors and producers all want their cut and after RDJ earned $250M off of Marvel Studios.... everyone wants a bigger cut.

Then comes in AT&T who want to transform Hollywood into a premium streaming experience and absolutely shocked that all the actors and directors want a theatrical release and would prefer it to the guarantees of streaming money.

The problem with a monopoly is it leads to market dominance which results in degraded customer experience, degraded quality and potentially price increases. There's a few major monopolies that really exercise this point.

With Google Search they're basically the only player out there. Sites are actually programmed now so that only Google and Bing can crawl them (as in search through their content to optimize it for being searched). This prevents are competitors from coming in, but it also means that they're going to be free to cram in as many ads as they can and change the algorithms to focus on sales rather than what the user wants to find. The result is that Google Search is now worse today than it was 10 years ago.

Similarly you have Ticketmaster. It's owned by Live Nation who also own venues, venue rights, talent agencies that organize tours... and also the scalping website. Over the last 50 years Ticketmaster has effectively wiped out all possible competition and locked out competitors from acts that they host. The result of this is that the largest ticket seller in the world can't keep their website online when the largest music star wants to tour.

You don't want 30 app stores on your phone, tablet or computer. But you want THE OPTION. I have like 10 reward programs on my phone, I choose them.... because I use them. But when my local autodealer told me that I was REQUIRED to use their app to even use their service, I just told them sorry not interested.

Epic's lawsuit isn't about forcing you to download their store on your phone, it's about allowing you to have the choice. If you want to play their games on your phone, you can.

Edit: And you already are sort of starting to get a degraded experience on Android and Apple stores as they allow companies to pay them for top spots.

I don't think it necessarily has to be bad. The Flash was a good enough show and for what was produced, had a very low budget. Word is it cost $50M to make a season of the show.

TV shows should be episodic and not just a movie split into 8 little parts. Refocusing TV shows like this allow you to reduce your casting costs because you can sit with a smaller central cast of characters. Flash was rather unique because the villain was mostly an "unknown entity thing" that rarely ever required an actual actor.

John Stewart can have some fairly cheap CGI animations compared to the others. Stewart was most known for using a green fist or green hammer. That could save a lot of money compared to Alan Scott or Hal Jordan who used a lot of.... creative constructs.

They can also save money by restricting a lot of the conflicts to Earth. Paralax comes to Earth and starts infecting super villains that Green Lantern has to stop? And then the final episode can involve his wife getting infected and having to choose between killing his wife or letting Paralax live? Sure, great show.
