Reply to Brooklyn Democratic Machine Appoints Little Pakistan Residents to Party Posts Without Their Knowledge by psychothumbs
One party city where the sole party is basically rigged down to the lowest levels. Something needs to change cuz it’s basically not even a democracy in NYC the way things stand. Can’t even begin to wrap my head around how this could be solved though…

I believe the Hotel Penn site is separate from the rest of the Penn developments as it is not on the Penn Station footprint so doesn’t involve NYS cooperation. It could similarly be affected by the current economic situation but probably isn’t what they were referring to.

That’s just quibbling about nomenclature, ‘Rikers’ [the island] vs ‘Rikers’ [the jail]. If the entire jail is built from scratch adjacent, and the old one torn down then it is not the same place at all. Obviously renovations/annexes would not fix this problem, it would have to be clean slate.

This is never going to happen given there’s an entire office building (2 Penn Plaza) right on top of where they want to build this that is currently undergoing a major renovation and expansion of size. Not sure why someone is bankrolling this at all given it’s inherent hopelessness

Right. The nuclear option (short of war) against these gulf petro-states would be seizing all their assets in the US. The more they buy up the better.
